Silathoranam

July 13, 2026·1 min read

Located in the Tirumala Hills near the main Venkateswara Temple, Silathoranam is a breathtaking natural rock arch dating back to the pre-Cambrian era — making it roughly 1.5 billion years old — and one of only three such arches in all of Asia. The formation, 8 metres wide and 3 metres high, resembles a serpent's hood and is considered a sacred geological wonder with deep mythological significance. Visiting at sunrise or sunset rewards guests with truly mystical views of the arch.
